How To Update Google Play Services Without Google Play Store – Google Play Services, like most apps, are updated through the Play Store. And like some apps, Play Services doesn’t update to the device once a new version is available. Here’s how to manually update Google Play Services…

In most cases, it doesn’t hurt to just let your phone and the Play Store update Play Services automatically. But if there’s a major update coming to Android along with the update, it’s safe to assume that sites (like ours) will write about it (like we did here). In these cases, it may be worth checking if there is an update available for your device.

Although Google Play Services is updated through the Play Store like any other app, there is no direct search option. To find it, you need to open this link on your Android device. After viewing the list, you’ll see an option to either disable the app or update it when a new version is available.

Google Play Services are an integral part of the Android operating system. They allow many applications, including third-party apps and games, to exchange information with Google. This can include getting directions from Google Maps, performing a Google search, signing in to your Google Account, and more.

Google Play Services are usually updated automatically. However, if you’re having a problem with your phone and suspect that Google Play Services might be the culprit, or the troubleshooting checklist suggests updating Google Play Services, here’s how to do it.

If you are still having problems with Google Play Services, you should clear their cache and data. You can clear the cache without risk, but if you clear the data, you’ll need to sign in to your Google account again, so make sure you have your username and password.

Let’s at least be thankful that Google tells you why apps don’t work. Now, all would be well if someone could just update Google Play Services. But it is not. If you search for Google Play Services in the Play Store, you won’t find it. So how is it updated?

Do not worry. This is not rocket science. Here are four ways to manually update Google Play Service on your Android phone. But before that, let’s get to know Google Play Services a bit.

Google Play Services are system services loaded into an app that help your device run smoothly. These services are responsible for the operation of the Google Play Store and other applications. If Google Play Services isn’t working properly, you’ll have problems with other apps as well. That is, it may crash, crash, or in some cases fail to activate.

It is a platform software that runs in the background. You won’t even know it’s installed on your phone (because it doesn’t show up on your home screen or app drawer) until it starts working. You might want to uninstall it at this point, but it can’t be done. It can only be updated.

Step 4: Reboot your phone. Wait 5 minutes or more. Then open Google Play Store and then Other apps. Hopefully, Google Play Services will automatically update in the background (provided your phone has a working internet connection).

Another way to force your phone to update Google Play Services is to disable it. For this, follow steps 1 and 2 of the above method (uninstall method). Then, on the Google Play Services screen, tap Turn Off (if available). It will probably turn gray.

Step 1: Open the phone Settings and go to Security. You’ll find it under different names on different devices, such as Security & Location or Lock Screen & Security. If you can’t find it, use the search in Settings to find the Security option.

Step 2: Tap on Device Manager or Device Manager apps depending on the option available on your phone.

Step 4: Now try to disable Google Play Services under Apps in Settings. Once you turn it off, wait a minute and then turn it back on. After enabling it, restart your phone. Wait again for 5 minutes for your phone to complete the background update.

If none of the above methods update Google Play Services on your phone, try updating them manually. For this you will need to download its APK file.

Step 1: Open the Google Play Services page on APK Mirror, one of the trusted places to download APK files.

Step 2: Scroll down and under All Versions, tap on the latest version. There are also beta versions of Play Services. Avoid them.

Step 3: On the next page, scroll down and you will find different types of APKs under the Download section. If you know what processor your phone has (see bottom bracket), press its different number.
